Sachin Tendulkar has achieved everything on the cricket field and has set standards unparalleled in the modern era of the game, but one thing that eludes the Master Blaster’s coveted crown is the World Cup title. The Indian legend, who turns 36 on Friday, still nurtures the dream on winning the trophy for his country and says he will try doing it during the 2011 World up scheduled in the sub-continent.
"I want to win the World Cup for India,” he had said during a function in Mumbai recently. Sachin had also spoken about his special birthday moment on the field. “That victory in the triangular series tournament in Sharjah in 1998 was a very special birthday gift for me," said Tendulkar, who had hit a scintillating century against Australia to win the series on April 24, 1998.
On Thursday night, the Mumbai Indians skipper was in for a surprise at Cape Town where his team and his other mates from the Indian squad arranged a surprise birthday party at the hotel.
Speaking to reporters, the Master Blaster said that the good wishes and blessings of his family and friends meant a lot to him. “My family will be joining me on Friday and I am really looking forward to spend some time with them."
Tendilkar said he was still enjoying every moment of playing cricket. "It is important to enjoy the game and only then only can you give your best and that's what I want to do," he added.
